Police in Regional Division # 9 are investigating the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis which was found on Wednesday January 28, 2026 about 15:15hrs during an operation at Tabatinga, Lethem.
During the operation, ranks intercepted a female riding an electric bike with a cardboard box attached. A search was conducted on the box, during which several macaroni and cheese boxes containing transparent plastic parcels with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found.
The suspect, a 30-year-old Housewife of Lethem, was arrested and escorted to the Lethem Police Station along with the suspected cannabis, which was weighed in her presence and amounted to 459 grams before being lodged.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
