What was supposed to be a joyful week for Shelton Joseph turned into tragedy when he passed away just two days before his 31st birthday in the MV Barima incident. Today, the husband and father of three was laid to rest.

Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Hon. Deodat Indar, who last evening visited the family with a team of supporters from Region 3, also joined Sherlonโ€™s family, friends, and former colleagues at Parika today to pay respects to Sherlon, who was part of the crew aboard the MV Barima.

The Minister addressed the grief-stricken crowd with words of comfort, acknowledging that the loss of everyone onboard has left families mourning and a nation heartbroken.

Minister Indar recognized the enormity of the loss as lives and family plans are cut short. He emphasized that while this is a time of collective grief, it is also vital for the wider community to keep loving and supporting the grieving families.

Minister within the Ministry of Agriculture, Hon. Vikash Ramkissoon, staff from the Transport and Harbours Department and community leaders also paid their respects at the funeral.
