Police are investigating the discovery of the body of an unidentified female of mixed ancestry, believed to be between 40 and 50 years old, which was found on Sunday January 18, 2026 about 10:00hrs in a trench between Barbie Dam and Lamaha Springs, Georgetown.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the body was found floating face down in the trench with several visible marks observed on the body.

Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned and the body was removed from the trench and pronounced dead by a doctor on duty from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

The body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.

Several persons were contacted and questioned. Investigations are ongoing.
