
In preparation for the 2025 General and Regional Elections, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has announced extended hours for its countrywide registration offices during the upcoming Claims and Objections Exercise.
The exercise will commence on Monday, June 16, and the Claims phase will end on Wednesday, June 18. While regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., GECOM has extended the closing time to 8:00 p.m. on June 16th, 17th, and 18th to accommodate the anticipated surge in eligible persons seeking to conduct registration-related transactions.

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) will be conducting a Claims and Objections Exercise, commencing on the 16th June, 2025. The Claims aspect of the exercise will conclude on the 18th June, 2025.
In this regard, GECOM had given notice that its Registration Offices countrywide will open at 08:00 hours and close at 18:00 hours. However, in anticipation of an influx of eligible persons desirous of conducting registration transactions, GECOM has taken a decision to extend the closing time for the conduct of registration transactions on June 16th, 17th and 18th 2025 from 18:00 hours to 20:00 hours.
Against this backdrop, the general public is hereby notified that the official hours for all GECOM Registration
Offices on June 16th, 17th and 18th will be 08:00 hours (8am) to 20:00 hours (8pm)
Any person who would be 18 years or older by the 30th June, 2025 and is a Guyanese Citizen by birth, descent, or naturalization or is a citizen from a Commonwealth country living in Guyana for one year or more is eligible for inclusion in the Official List of Electors (OLE) to be used for the conduct of General and Regional Elections 2025.
In view of the foregoing GECOM also takes this opportunity to advise all eligible persons that on the days outlined above and during the stated hours they can visit the GECOM Registration Office that is responsible for the area where they live to make a claim to entry on the OLE, if his/her name is not on the list, by applying for registration.
Persons already on list can also apply for a transfer if he/she is listed at an address where he/she no longer lives, apply for change of name if he/she has changed his/her name since he/she was registered or apply for correction if there is incorrect information in the Preliminary List of Electors (PLE).
