Three family members are now in police custody after reportedly confessing to the murder of 48-year-old Jenny Mohammed, whose body was discovered on Thursday along the new Eccles-Ogle Highway.
The suspects, identified as the victim’s daughter, son-in-law, and husband, were arrested after investigators visited the family’s Non-Pareil, East Coast Demerara home and observed blood stains in one of the rooms. Mohammed had initially been reported missing by her relatives.

Police say the daughter and son-in-law admitted during interrogation that they devised a plan to kill Mohammed, claiming they had endured constant abuse from the victim. The husband is also reportedly implicated in the plot.
Following their confession, the couple led police to the location where the woman’s body was dumped. Mohammed’s remains were found wrapped in a tarpaulin and garbage bag, with a rope tied around her neck and multiple stab wounds evident on her body. The police also recovered a knife believed to be the murder weapon.
Investigations are ongoing.
