The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has arrested three individuals as the investigation intensifies into the double murder of Mark Thomas, 24, and Wendy James, a resident of Barama River, Baramita, North West District.
The suspects identified as Kizzian Baird, Junior Richmond, known locally as ‘Po-Pal,’ and Ewart Wilson, are believed to be involved in the killing that occurred on Monday at New Star Backdam in Region One.
Following the incident, police conducted an extensive search of the New Star Backdam area between June 16 and 19, pursuing the suspects who had fled their residences. All three were subsequently located and arrested at different hiding places within the Backdam.
The suspects have since undergone video and audio-recorded interviews, while witness testimonies in written form have confirmed their alleged participation in the crimes.
The trio remains in police custody as the investigation continues. A post-mortem examination on the bodies of Thomas and James is scheduled for Monday, June 23, at Port Kaituma to determine the exact cause of death.
