Gunshots were fired outside the residence of Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, in South Ruimveldt Gardens, Georgetown, on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at approximately 22:00 hours, and authorities reportedly recovered at least 15 spent shell casings from the scene. However, the Guyana Police Force’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) has not yet provided further details regarding the incident.
In a Facebook post following the shooting, Minister Edghill expressed his gratitude and faith, sharing a passage from Psalm 23 (KJV).
This shooting incident comes just weeks after an arson attack on Minister Edghill’s church in Lodge, Georgetown.
The Ministry of Affairs confirmed that the fire is being treated as a deliberate act of arson after CCTV footage showed a hooded individual entering the church premises shortly before the fire was reported.
