Yohance Yarris, a 22-year-old unemployed man from Guyhoc Park, Georgetown, known by the alias “Too Cute,” who was initially remanded in February 2025 on four armed robbery charges, was granted $550,000 bail last Friday.
Yarris first appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts in February, where he was charged in connection with a series of robberies involving stolen items valued at over $2 million.
At that hearing, his attorney pleaded for bail, citing the need for medical treatment due to gunshot wounds allegedly sustained during his arrest.
However, the magistrate denied the request after the prosecution argued he was a flight risk and had been evading police since September 2024.
The charges include a September 26, 2024, robbery at Shopping Lane, West Ruimveldt, where Yarris and an accomplice allegedly robbed David Granham of $1.1 million in jewellery.
He is also accused of using a firearm to rob Adrian Ally of a $200,000 iPhone 14 Pro Max on February 19, 2025, at East Ruimveldt Front Road.
Two additional charges relate to a January 8, 2025, robbery at Cane View, South Ruimveldt, in which Yarris allegedly stole a Samsung phone, perfume, and cash worth $160,000 from Candice Stewart and $600,000 in electronics and personal items from Shane Stewart.
The prosecution had argued Yarris was a repeat offender with a pending case in Berbice and claimed he was shot while resisting arrest and opening fire on officers.
Despite the earlier concerns raised by the prosecution, Yarris was granted bail on May 9, 2025, after his attorney pointed out that the case file remained incomplete.
He is expected to return to court on May 23, 2025, for continuation of his matters.
