Four men were arrested Thursday afternoon following an intelligence-led operation that prevented a planned robbery at a Chinese supermarket in New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Sheriff News Network was informed that at approximately 14:00 hours on Friday, two vehicles travelling from Georgetown were intercepted by a senior police officer and other ranks at the access road to the Berbice River Bridge.
A .38 revolver with the serial number J465543 was found in a compartment beneath the steering wheel, along with five matching rounds of ammunition.
The four males, aged between 18 and 29, are from Georgetown and are in custody, assisting the police with their investigation.
