A 30-year-old taxi driver, Keon Belgrave of B Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was on Tuesday remanded to prison for the fatal stabbing of mechanic Jamal Greene during a road rage incident earlier this month in Georgetown.

Belgrave appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he was charged with Greene’s July 4, 2025, murder.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge and will return to court on July 30, 2025. Attorney Dawn Cush is representing the accused.

The fatal altercation occurred around 13:30h at the intersection of Robb and Albert Streets, Georgetown.

Police investigations revealed that both men were heading south along Albert Street when Greene, 26, of D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown, rode alongside Belgrave’s car and made a provocative remark.

Greene then stopped his motorcycle, and Belgrave halted his vehicle as well.

An eyewitness reported that Greene, armed with an iron bar, struck Belgrave in the back. In response, Belgrave allegedly armed himself with a knife, and during a struggle, Greene was stabbed multiple times in the back.

Emergency responders transported Greene to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he later died while receiving treatment.

Both the knife and the iron bar were recovered at the scene, and police also obtained surveillance footage capturing the incident.

Belgrave was arrested at the scene and treated for minor injuries.
