Rakameem Nicholas, the 21-year-old security guard wanted for the $13.1 million armed robbery at the Fantasy Game Lounge in Giftland Mall, Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was arrested last evening at KK Villa on Lime Street, Werk-en-Rust.
Detectives from the CID’s anti-crime patrol acted on information and apprehended Nicholas around 19:00 hours on Thursday. The suspect was found standing at the entrance of KK Villa, and upon searching him, officers found a cell phone and $20,950 in cash.
Further searches of Room Nine at KK Villa uncovered a black haversack containing a Glock 19 pistol – the firearm reportedly used during the robbery- with a magazine loaded with 15 live rounds of matching ammunition. Also recovered were the suspect’s passport and a copy of the firearm license.
Nicholas remains in police custody as investigations continue. Reports are that on the morning of June 22, 2025, Nicholas, a Castle Security guard assigned to Fantasy Game Lounge, allegedly carried out the robbery.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., he reportedly drew his issued 9mm pistol, fired a warning shot, and confronted two supervisors inside the gaming area.
The on-duty supervisor, 21-year-old Raywat Sankar, was ordered to open the electronic door to the cashier’s room, where Nicholas forced both supervisors inside and demanded that Sankar open the vault. The suspect then compelled Sankar to transfer all cash, totalling $13.1 million, into a garbage basket.
CCTV footage captured Nicholas fleeing via the Giftland Mall access road, where he stopped a motorcar bearing registration PZZ 5690, which sped away.
Police recovered one spent 9mm shell casing at the scene, but a search of the suspect’s residence yielded no cash.
