

Agents from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) seized more than 13 kilograms of cannabis and a quantity of cocaine from several locations in Tabatinga, Lethem, Central Rupununi.
According to CANU’s press release, the first two operations took place on May 12, 2025. Officers acting on intelligence raided two separate premises in Tabatinga.
The first bust occurred at a private residence, where CANU ranks discovered 1.6 kilograms of cannabis and 63.7 grams of cocaine. One individual was arrested and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
The second operation was conducted at an abandoned residence in the same community. A subsequent search led to the discovery of an additional 1.2 kilograms of cannabis. However, no arrests were made at that location.
Just a day later, on May 13, 2025, CANU agents launched another operation, once again in Tabatinga, Lethem. This time, officers uncovered a much larger haul – 10.5 kilograms of cannabis during a search of a residence. Two individuals were arrested and are assisting investigators.
