Firearm and Spent Shells Discovered at Kairuni Fruit Stand; One in Custody
Police on Sunday discovered a firearm and several spent shells during an operation in the Kairuni community along the Linden/Soesdyke Highway.
According to reports, at around 17:00 hrs, police ranks on patrol heard four loud explosions and proceeded to investigate. Upon arrival, they encountered Sherwin Critchlow, a 39-year-old electrician, standing near a fruit stand on the western side of the highway.
A search of the fruit stand led to the discovery of a firearm hidden under a white five-gallon bucket. Further checks around the area uncovered five spent shells.
The weapon and spent shells were seized, and Critchlow was arrested and taken to the Highway Patrol Base, where he is assisting police with the ongoing investigation.
