Parents in Region Six are thankful for the government’s cash grant aimed at students taking the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).

Lucinda Galloway, who looks after her niece, mentioned that the girl is currently enrolled in her first year of Law at New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary School. Lucinda believes this initiative is great.

“It’s going to help me in some way since she is under my care, and she is going to do mathematics lessons, so I will use the money in that area. It’s a good benefit for her,” Lucinda explained.

Varsha Ramaloo shared that her son, also in his first year, is studying engineering at New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary.

“I feel good and happy because it will help us with the CAPE. Whatever the child needs, that is where it is going to go,” she said.

Another parent, Jason Sannoogal, noted that his son is in his second year at New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary, where he is focusing on Accounting.

“It’s a good initiative. It will ease some burden or stress on parents,” he revealed.

This year, the ‘Because We Care’ cash grant has increased to $50,000, in addition to a $5,000 uniform allowance.
