The Essequibo Islands–West Demerara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (R3CCI) was among the private sector representatives who journeyed to Lethem on October 15, 2025, as part of a high-level delegation aimed at strengthening agricultural and trade ties between Guyana and Roraima, Brazil.

The mission was led by Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Zulfikar Mustapha, and Minister of Government Efficiency and Implementation, Hon. Zulfikar Ally. The delegation engaged with Brazilian officials, including Hon. Aluizio Nascimento da Silva, Secretary of State for Agriculture of Roraima.

Discussions centered on President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s vision to transform Lethem into a regional agro-industrial hub — a key component of CARICOM’s “25 by 2025” food security agenda.

R3CCI President, Ms. Bhabita Albert, reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to advancing Region 3 businesses through innovation, partnerships, and international collaboration.

“We see Lethem as the bridge between Guyana, Brazil, and the Caribbean’s food future,” Albert stated.

Headquartered in Leonora, R3CCI continues to represent Region 3’s private sector, fostering trade, innovation, and investment opportunities across Guyana’s western corridor.
