Finance Minister Delivers Feature Address at Launch of World Trade Centre Georgetown
Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh on Tuesday delivered the feature address on behalf of President Dr. Irfaan Ali at the official launch of the World Trade Centre Georgetown (WTCG).
In his remarks, Dr. Singh described the establishment of the WTCG as a timely and strategic development in Guyana’s economic journey. He emphasized that the initiative holds tremendous potential for unlocking new trade opportunities for the local private sector.
The Finance Minister further stated that the creation of the WTCG is aligned with the government’s national vision of building a diversified, globally competitive, and resilient non-oil economy. He noted that the administration continues to prioritize enhancing Guyana’s physical connectivity with neighbouring countries and the wider region to expand economic prospects for Guyanese businesses.
Dr. Singh also commended the Chairman and team of the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) Group for their efforts in establishing the Centre, calling it a significant milestone that places Guyana among the global network of cities hosting World Trade Centres.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the World Trade Centre Association (WTCA) for approving Guyana’s application for membership and for the support extended throughout the establishment process.
