President Dr. Irfaan Ali told a packed gathering in Region Six that his government is entering its new term with a sharpened focus on accountability, people-centered governance and accelerated regional development. Addressing residents during a mid-afternoon outreach, the President emphasized that citizens remain “the foundation, the center, and the top” of his administration and reaffirmed that every sector of government will now operate directly from communities across all 10 administrative regions.

Ali announced that Cabinet will rotate monthly into different regions complete with meetings, outreaches, and integrated government service teams to listen to concerns and resolve issues on the ground. He stressed that public servants and contractors will be held to stricter performance standards, citing the delayed completion of key bridges in Region Six as an example. He said contractors who fail to meet obligations will not receive new work and that negligent engineers will also face consequences.

The President outlined major reforms aimed at digitizing government services and improving transparency, including integrated complaint systems, digital tracking, and the upcoming One Guyana Service Delivery Centers, which will combine immigration, passport, NIS, GRA, licensing and health services under one roof. A new Health Connect desk will allow citizens to escalate unresolved concerns directly to the Office of the President.

Ali also highlighted several large-scale initiatives targeting young people, vulnerable families, and growing communities. This includes new childcare and eldercare facilities staffed by graduates of the WIN program, subsidized care for working parents, proposed incentives for families raising children living with disabilities and expanded recreational and community spaces.

He noted that a new development bank, set to launch before the end of the first quarter next year will provide small loans that are interest-free and collateral-free, creating opportunities for small businesses across the region.

The President urged citizens to sign up for bank accounts as Guyana shifts to digital payments, and he encouraged positive community involvement rather than dependency on shortcuts or bribery. He said the country’s rapid growth means that anyone in the region with engineering, nursing, pharmaceutical, or heavy-duty operator qualifications can be employed immediately due to high demand.

Residents took the opportunity to voice thanks, share testimonials of personal upliftment and highlight the benefits they have received through scholarships, community works, and the government’s various youth and social programs. Several young people praised job creation through infrastructure projects, while educators and community activists applauded what they described as a vision grounded in sustainability and opportunity.

From free teacher training for young adults to university access for mature students, community sports advancement and targeted support for parents, citizens repeatedly credited the administration for transforming lives and improving standards of living in Region Six.

President Ali closed by urging the region to match the government’s transformation with positive civic responsibility respecting systems, uplifting each other, and building a healthier, more unified Guyana.

“The future is ours,” he told the gathering. “Let us work together to make it count for this generation and the next.”
