New BK terminal to transform Region Seven – President

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali said the new BK Terminal in Bartica will create the enabling environment to massively transform Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).

While delivering remarks as a simple sod-turning ceremony today, the Head of State described the project as history meeting destiny.

He said the project is part of Guyana’s broader national vision to integrate every corner of the country through infrastructure, connectivity, investment, technology and opportunity.

“When Guyana moves, every region must move with it, when the coast advances, the hinterland must advance too. And when development comes, it must come for all Guyanese, every riverine home, every hinterland township, every island in the Essequibo. It is this commitment to shared progress that brings us to a fundamental truth; development begins with connectivity, because before economies can expand, before opportunities can spread, and before regions can flourish together, they must first be linked physically, digitally and economically.”

To further complement this and to enhance rapid development, the President challenged the local aviation sector to work on reducing the cost of air transport by at least 15%.

Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d), the Honourable Mark Phillips; other Government Ministers and Officials were also at the event.
