Police Engage With Essequibo Communities on Safety Ahead of Festive Season
As part of its drive to build stronger ties with residents, the Guyana Police Force’s Regional Division #2 conducted a targeted community engagement in Windsor Castle and Hampton Village on Wednesday. The session brought together business operators and homeowners to discuss ongoing security concerns and share updates on services available within the region.
Assistant Superintendent N. Lall and Corporal Ramnarine led the outreach, offering guidance on crime prevention as well as steps residents can take to improve their personal and business security. Participants were urged to adopt safer practices, including maintaining effective lighting, installing functioning CCTV systems, and reporting suspicious activity promptly.
The conversation also explored several community challenges, such as noise nuisance, domestic violence, reckless driving, and issues affecting at-risk youth. Residents were reminded of available support mechanisms, including free computer training through the Zara programme and access to decentralised police services within Region Two.
With the holiday season approaching, officers announced increased patrols to enhance public safety and support businesses during the busiest period of the year.
The outreach forms part of the Force’s ongoing Strategic Plan, which emphasizes strengthened cooperation between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
