
Two individuals are in custody after they were allegedly nabbed by agents of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU), who seized a firearm, ammunition, and over 3.8 kilograms of cannabis.
According to a press release from the agency, officers acted on intelligence and conducted an operation near the Royal Hotel on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown. During the operation, two individuals were intercepted and searched.

The search led to the discovery of eight parcels containing leaves, seeds, and stems of marijuana. Officers also recovered a CZ pistol along with 19 live rounds of ammunition.
The suspects were arrested at the scene and transported to CANU’s headquarters along with the seized items. Tests later confirmed that the substance was marijuana, weighing approximately 3.810 kilograms. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
