Construction to begin soon to upgrade Rosignol daily market – Region Five Chairman
Work is set to begin shortly on the enhancements for the daily market in Rosignol, West Bank Berbice, and vendors have already been temporarily moved to accommodate the project.
At the recently held Region Five Regional Democratic Council monthly statutory meeting, Regional Chairman Richardo Phillips disclosed that the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development is undertaking an upgrade of the Rosignol daily market, aiming to transform the lives of patrons and vendors.
“The Government believes that every single citizen has to live a comfortable life and in the execution of their livelihoods, they should be comfortable also,” he stated.
A contract was signed for the upgrade. Vendors who were plying their trade at the location were issued letters to remove from the area on January 7th and relocate to the Rosignol market along Stelling Road. An agreement was made for them to sell at that facility from Monday to Friday to facilitate the construction of a new facility for the daily market. The new facility is expected to be constructed within three months.
