A Rose Hall Town resident lost his life on Wednesday evening following a motorcycle collision along the Mibicuri Public Road in Black Bush Polder, Corentyne. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Jermaine Smart. Sheriff News Network understands that the accident occurred at approximately 18:30 hours and also involved a 14-year-old student of the Mibicuri Secondary School, Swanti Culpepper of Mibicuri South. It is alleged that Smart was travelling west along the roadway while Culpepper was heading in the opposite direction.Information received suggested that the teenager’s motorcycle was being operated without its headlamp illuminated when the two vehicles collided. The force of the impact threw both riders onto the road surface, leaving them with multiple injuries. Residents and passers-by who responded to the scene transported the injured pair to the Mibicuri Public Hospital for emergency treatment.Despite efforts by medical personnel, Smart succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the facility. Culpepper regained consciousness while receiving treatment and was later transferred to the No. 75 Public Hospital for further medical attention. He remains hospitalized in serious condition. Due to the extent of his injuries, a breathalyzer test was not administered to the teenage rider. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash are continuing.
