The Government of Guyana continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to the development of Region One through strategic investments in sports and community infrastructure.

Minister within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hon. Steven Jacobs, visited the site earmarked for the construction of the new $223 million Multi-Purpose Hall in Mabaruma on Wednesday. With construction set to commence shortly, this transformative project marks another significant milestone in the Government’s vision of creating modern, accessible facilities for the people of the region.

Once completed, the state-of-the-art facility will provide a safe and modern venue for a wide range of indoor sporting disciplines, community events, youth development programmes, and recreational activities. The Multi-Purpose Hall is expected to greatly enhance opportunities for athletes, encourage greater youth participation in sports, and serve as a hub for community engagement.

This major investment reflects the Government’s continued focus on improving the quality of life for residents while strengthening sports development across Region One. The future of Mabaruma is bright, and this project is yet another example of the Government delivering on its commitment to sustainable development and opportunities for all.

Building stronger communities. Empowering our youth. Investing in Region One’s future.
