The Guyana Police Force continues to provide support to the ongoing multi-agency search and recovery operation following the tragic sinking of the MV Barima.
Ranks from the Marine Section, Tactical Services Unit, Criminal Investigation Department and Regional Police Divisions One and Two are conducting searches by boat several miles offshore and in and around the area where the vessel sank. Drone support is also being utilised to assist in locating potential survivors, persons still unaccounted for and the recovery of bodies.
The Police ranks continue to work alongside the Guyana Defence Force Coast Guard and Air Corps, the French Armed Forces, the Brazilian Navy, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard and other national, regional and international teams involved in the operation.
The Guyana Police Force remains committed to supporting the ongoing efforts and will continue deploying its personnel and resources in the search for those still unaccounted for.
