A woman wanted in Suriname on allegations of human trafficking has been extradited from Guyana following a joint operation between Guyanese and Surinamese authorities.
The suspect, Geurra Pérez, also known as Rosana “Diana,” was arrested in Guyana on Sunday, August 2, 2026, after Surinamese police requested assistance in locating and apprehending her.
According to Surinamese authorities, the country’s Attorney General had issued an order on January 6, 2026, for Pérez’s arrest and appearance before the court. She is accused of human trafficking, acting as a co-perpetrator and accomplice in human trafficking, and participating in a criminal organization.
The investigation intensified in January after the arrest of another suspect, identified as B.N. During police operations at two separate homes in Paramaribo, several alleged victims of human trafficking were rescued.
Investigators later identified Pérez as a key suspect, but she had already fled to neighboring Guyana.
Following information that she was in Guyana, Surinamese authorities sought her arrest and extradition. After the legal extradition process was completed, Pérez was formally handed over to Surinamese police on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Upon her arrival in Suriname, Pérez was taken to the Department of Crimes Against Human Trafficking, where she was questioned by investigators. Acting in consultation with the Prosecutor’s Office, authorities ordered her continued detention as investigations into the case continue.
