Two persons are now homeless after a fire completely destroyed their house located at Lot 155, Gibraltar Village, Region Six, on Thursday night.
Junior Jonas, 51, a government ten-day worker, occupied the upper flat of the two-storey wooden house, which had two bedrooms. His nephew-in-law resided in the lower flat, which also had two bedrooms.

Lotaya Griffith, who recently moved out of the property with her three children, told reporters that around 22:22 hrs, her mother inquired about smoke in the yard. Shortly after, Jonas’s house was engulfed in flames.
The Rose Town Fire Station was contacted, and firefighters managed to prevent a nearby shop in the same yard from being destroyed. Jonas stated that he was a few villages away when he received the devastating news and immediately rushed to the scene.
He noted that he had last visited the premises two weeks ago, as he typically stayed with his partner. According to Jonas, his nephew-in-law was not at home when the fire broke out, and all his belongings, including cash, were destroyed.
Jonas said the house was fully furnished, and he could not save any possessions. He had plans to repair the building.
“[I’m] glad for assistance to rebuild. I used to cut cane and come the cane work because of sickness,” he said.
