Wakenaam Residents Learn About Guyana Development Bank Opportunities

Residents of Wakenaam, Region Three, particularly farmers and entrepreneurs, were engaged on the opportunities available through the Guyana Development Bank during a sensitisation session at the Essequibo Islands Secondary School.

Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Hon. Zulfikar Ally, led the engagement, highlighting the Bank’s support for farmers and small businesses through zero-interest financing and loans that do not require collateral.

Residents were also informed about business planning, financial literacy, marketing support and technical guidance available through the institution.

Minister Ally encouraged residents to look beyond their existing operations and explore opportunities in areas including agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, transportation, retail and other innovative ventures. He also urged entrepreneurs to utilise technology and social media to promote their products and access wider markets.

The session also provided information on opening bank accounts, accessing Government Service Apps and registering for the Digital E-ID, including the process for applying for Digital ID cards.

The engagement forms part of the Government’s efforts to equip farmers, entrepreneurs and small business owners with the financing, knowledge and digital tools needed to expand their operations and contribute to economic growth.
