A night out to watch cricket ended tragically for a 19-year-old Albion Sugar Estate worker, who died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a utility pole early Saturday morning.
Dead is Danesh Prabudial, called “Bryan,” of Lot 505 Belvedere Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
Police said the accident occurred around 00:45 hours along the Albion Public Road.
Prabudial was reportedly riding motorcycle CK 360 west along the southern drive lane when he lost control and collided with a lamp post on the northern side of the road.
The impact reportedly flung him from the motorcycle onto the road surface, leaving him with injuries about his body.
Public-spirited citizens found Prabudial unconscious and rushed him to the Anamayah Memorial Hospital. He was later transferred to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where a doctor examined him and pronounced him dead on arrival.
Speaking to reporters, Prabudial’s mother, Kavita Tarbudial, said her son had returned home from work at the Albion Sugar Estate around 18:00 hours on Friday.
About an hour later, he left home to watch live cricket with a group of friends at a wash bay located one street away from their residence.
Tarbudial said that around 01:00 hours on Saturday, she received a telephone call informing her that her son had been involved in an accident.
She later learnt that Prabudial had taken a friend’s motorcycle and went for a ride when the accident occurred.
The sudden death has left Prabudial’s family devastated, with his mother describing him as a good son as she struggles to come to terms with his tragic passing.
