These standards guide everything Sheriff News Network publishes.
Accuracy
We verify information before we publish. Where a fact cannot yet be confirmed, we say so plainly. We attribute claims to their sources and distinguish reporting from opinion.
Sourcing
We prefer named, on-the-record sources and primary documents. We use anonymous sources only when the information is in the public interest and cannot be obtained otherwise.
Independence & fairness
Our newsroom is editorially independent. Advertising and sponsorship never dictate coverage, and sponsored content is clearly labelled. We give people and institutions a fair opportunity to respond before publishing allegations against them.
Transparency
Bylines identify our journalists. Significant updates to a story are noted, and errors are corrected openly — see our Corrections Policy.
This is starter language — please review and adjust to match SNN’s actual editorial practice.
