Guyana’s oil fund climbs to US$5.47B at end of September

Guyana’s Natural Resource Fund (NRF) climbed to approximately US$5.47 billion at the end of September 2026, after receiving almost G$160 billion in profit oil payments during the month.

According to the NRF’s September Summary of Financial Position and Performance, the Fund closed the month with G$1.141 trillion, equivalent to US$5,472,911,327.29.

The Fund entered September with a balance of approximately G$1.019 trillion and received G$159.8 billion in profit oil proceeds during the month. No royalty or signature bonus payments were recorded for the period.

At the same time, G$41.7 billion was transferred from the NRF to the Consolidated Fund during September. The government has been making withdrawals from the Fund to support expenditure approved through the national budget.

The NRF also earned approximately G$3.25 billion in interest income during the month, with no management fees, transaction costs or other expenses recorded in the monthly statement.

Despite the withdrawal, the combination of profit oil proceeds and investment income resulted in the Fund growing by more than G$121 billion during September, moving from G$1.019 trillion at the beginning of the month to G$1.141 trillion at month-end.

The report shows that the Fund’s entire portfolio was held in cash and cash equivalents as of September 30. Its cash portfolio recorded a 0.301% return for the month, while the year-to-date return stood at 2.693%. The annualised return since inception was reported at 2.723%.

The monthly statement used an exchange rate of G$208.50 to US$1 and noted that its figures are presented on a cash basis of accounting.
