The Alliance For Change (AFC) has formally cancelled the membership of three of its former executive members, Sherod Duncan, Juretha Fernandes, and Deonarine (Ricky) Ramsaroop, after confirming their defection to A Partnership for National Unity (APNU).

The party announced on Wednesday that the trio, now aligned with APNU and set to contest the upcoming General and Regional Elections under its banner, have forfeited their right to AFC membership.

In a press release, the AFC explained that its General Secretary sought clarification from the defectors after reports surfaced regarding their new political alignment, but received no response.

Subsequent verification revealed that all three had officially subscribed to APNU’s membership, leaving the AFC with “no option but to formally cancel their membership.”

The AFC underscored that its constitution and principles provide clear guidance on such matters: by subscribing to another party’s membership and contesting under a rival list, members are deemed to have willingly forfeited their standing within the AFC.

The party stressed that the decision to cancel membership was a constitutional necessity rather than a discretionary move.
