President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali has maintained that Guyana will continue strengthening its national security architecture, stressing that constant vigilance and continued investment are necessary to reduce the risks posed by terrorists and those who support them.

Speaking at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre, the president said Guyana’s security system is being expanded and upgraded to become more proactive and responsive. He noted that every improvement made to the sector helps to reduce potential threats and create a safer environment for citizens.

Asked about the ongoing court matter involving the gas station bombing, the head of state said the case remains before the judiciary and he will carry out whatever orders are issued when the time comes.

The president was firm in his position on the severity of the attack, which claimed lives and left several persons injured. He stressed that anyone who carries out such acts in Guyana should face the full force of the law, pointing out that in cases like this, the legislation allows for the death penalty.
