Althia King, who the A New and United Guyana (ANUG) had elected to represent them in Parliament, has resigned, just days after two co-founders exited the party.
In a Facebook post, King said, “As of July 1st, I officially resigned from A New and United Guyana (ANUG).”
King was unable to take up the seat in parliament after the representative of The New Movement (TNM), Dr. Asha Kissoon refused to step down and give way to ANUG as in keeping with a joinder agreement signed by three small parties.
Earlier this week, Ramkarran and Timothy Jonas resigned after the party signed a coalition agreement with the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, which is headed by United States-sanctioned businessman Azruddin Mohamed.
Ramkarran and Jonas’ resignations followed ANUG’s announcement that it has joined forces with WIN to contest the 2025 General and Regional Elections.
