Approximately one thousand residential lots will be allocated to families in the Linden area as part of the New Wismar Phase 2 Housing Development.
The allocations will take place at Watooka House during a “Dream Realise” event, benefitting families across low, middle, moderate, and high-income brackets. Additionally, over 90 Certificates of Title will be distributed to recipients.
The event opened with remarks from key officials, including the Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, the Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues, and the Permanent Secretary, Bishram Kuppen.

Minister Rodrigues emphasised the administration’s commitment to equity and support for youths and vulnerable populations in the housing programme.
“This new area will be fully sustainable and wholesome, a place that you will be proud to call home. We are happy to serve you and to deliver this,” she said. Acknowledging the challenges faced in securing land in Region 10, she expressed pride in reaching this milestone. “We persevered and managed to find lands that are suitable to address the backlog, and we are committed to addressing every application.”
Minister Croal acknowledged the contributions of commercial banks, Guyana Water Inc., and the Ministry’s staff in making the development possible.
“One thousand of you will receive a lot, and this continues our mandate to meet the housing needs of all regions,” he stated. He noted that accomplishing this milestone in Linden was challenging, but the agency remained steadfast despite criticism.

“We must remember the process and our commitment to ensuring that this mandate is fulfilled, making housing ownership and access easier,” Croal added. He assured the audience that the new development would adequately meet housing demand in the region.
The New Wismar Phase 2 Housing Development will offer over 2,000 residential lots, a commercial block, and reserved land for essential infrastructure.
On the broader infrastructure front in Region 10’s housing sector, Minister Croal announced that over $6 billion has been invested to improve housing accessibility. Phase One infrastructure work is already underway, with tenders for Phase Two scheduled to open on July 8.
Families who received allocations in Wismar Phase One are expected to access their lots by November of this year.
