Bandits rob Corentyne vendor in home invasion
Two armed bandits targeted a market vendor’s home in Brighton Village, Corentyne, on Monday night. Seewatee Seecharran told reporters that around 6:50 PM, she heard a strange noise resembling a conversation. She asked her 18-year-old son about it, but he was unaware of the source. As she tried to prepare dinner, she then heard a voice instructing, “Nobody is to holler.” Moments later, she said she spotted two men—one masked and one unmasked—both carrying guns.Seewatee recounted that a masked bandit held her disabled son at gunpoint in their lower flat, while the other robber demanded cash. Initially, she claimed she had no money, but ultimately gave them $300,000 from her sales at the Rose Hall Market. The bandits were still unsatisfied and, in fear, she handed over a similar amount, totalling over $700,000, some of which was meant for vehicle instalments. “It’s really hard,” adding,” This is two times now we get robbed. All the money we had we gave them, and me does do business and me nah get no money to turn over. Every day me dose through box-hand,” the victim stated. After the bandits fled through a back door, Seewatee discovered her disabled 24-year-old daughter had been injured, with blood running down her face. Two weeks ago, bandits had targeted a shop in the same community, carting off with a small amount of cash. Police are investigating the incident.
