Berbice Expo launch with plans to execute two major projects with funds garnered
The 19th Berbice Exposition and Trade Fair was launched on Wednesday with plans to execute two major community projects with the funds garnered from the event.
Speaking at the launch, President of the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce Poonai Bhigroop disclosed that the event is a premier Business event of Region Six where entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and service providers are allowed to showcase the best of Berbice, more so Guyana.
“Businesses will not only display products and services, but also share knowledge and build partnerships and expose new markets where small entrepreneurs can stand alongside major companies and feel proud of their achievement, ‘’ he stated.
According to Bhigroop, the Chamber will be constructing a shed at the Rose Hall Estate Ground in East Canje, Berbice, where the Expo is slated to be held from October 31st to November 3rd, 2025. He said the Chamber will be collaborating with the Rose Hall Town Nursery School to set up a play park.
In his remarks, Regional Chairman David Armogan commended the Chamber for upholding the event over the years. He said the expo is one of the largest events held in Region Six, where people all over attended to enjoy and benefit from the many promotions.
Minister of Finance Dr. Ashni Singh also commended the Chamber for continuing to host the Expo. He said the event is a very important occasion for Businesses in Berbice to showcase their products.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Berbice entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial capacity. I urge you to take advantage of that opportunity and put Berbice entrepreneurship on show for the rest of Guyana, ‘’ he said.
This year’s Expo is being held under the theme: Harnessing New Wealth: Modernizing Tradition Sectors for Sustainable Economic Development.”
The chamber caters to 180 booths where several products and services will be showcased. The Chamber also pledged to give free space to young entrepreneurs.
