
The body of Lance Corporal Stefon Tudor, a Guyana Defence Force (GDF) rank who went missing after falling overboard during a routine river patrol, has been recovered.
This publication understands that Tudor’s body is expected to be flown to Georgetown today.

Tudor had been unaccounted for since Thursday afternoon when he reportedly fell into the Cuyuni River in the vicinity of the Makapa rapids between 14:00 and 15:00 hours. He was part of a Riverain Patrol operating near the Guyana-Venezuela border.
Following the incident, GDF troops stationed at Eteringbang and Makapa immediately launched an extensive search and rescue operation.
After hours of continuous efforts, the soldier’s body was located and retrieved on Saturday.
In response to the incident, the GDF has convened a Board of Inquiry to investigate the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
