Businessman Found Dead at Nandy Park Residence

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 49-year-old businessman Freeman Fordyce, whose body was discovered at his residence at Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara, on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

According to police, Fordyce was found at about 1:00 p.m. after relatives became concerned when several attempts to contact him went unanswered.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Fordyce, who lived alone, was last seen alive by a relative on Sunday, August 2, at around 4:00 p.m.

The relative reportedly visited the residence on Thursday and discovered Fordyce’s body in a bedroom.

He was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. An examination of the body revealed no visible marks of violence, and police initially said there was no indication of foul play.

The body was subsequently taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home pending a post-mortem examination.

An autopsy was conducted on Friday, August 7, by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh. Following dissection, the cause of death was determined to be heart failure.

The body was subsequently handed over to Fordyce’s relatives for burial.

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death are continuing.
