The children were travelling with their mother, Shivanie Wells, when tragedy struck. Their mother survived the incident, but the two children remain unaccounted for.

Relatives are pleading with the public to share their photographs and provide any information that may assist in locating them.

“Please help circulate the pictures. Me and my family highly appreciate every share. Thanks in advance,” a family member said.

Anyone with information on Timar and Samara’s whereabouts is asked to contact the family or the relevant authorities.

Public Works Minister Juan Edghill has confirmed that two people have died in the MV Barima tragedy, including one female.

He also revealed that the vessel’s captain was among two crew members who tested positive for cannabis sativa, commonly known as marijuana, following the incident.

Speaking during a press briefing on Sunday evening, Edghill said he was deeply disappointed by the drug test results, describing them as “criminal conduct.”

He did not disclose the identity of the crew members.

The minister stressed that the Ministry of Public Works maintains a zero-tolerance policy on the use of alcohol and illicit drugs while on duty, particularly for employees responsible for the safety of the travelling public.

He also confirmed that search and rescue operations remain ongoing as authorities continue efforts to locate those still unaccounted for.

Edghill said authorities are doing “everything humanly possible” to locate those who remain missing as search and rescue operations continue.

The minister assured the public that the government is committed to determining the circumstances surrounding the incident and that anyone found to have acted negligently or in breach of the law will be held accountable.

Terrence Jackson received the sentence from Justice Sandil Kissoon after he was convicted of the January 23, 2020 murder of his estranged wife, 44-year-old Somattie Keosoram.

Jackson was represented by attorneys Glendon Greenidge and Joshua Benn, while the prosecution was conducted by State Counsel Cicelia Corbin and State Counsel Rodley Mattoo.

The court heard that Keosoram was fatally attacked during an altercation at her home on the night of the killing.

She suffered numerous stab wounds and a slashed throat in an assault that unfolded in the presence of one of her teenage daughters, who was 16 years old at the time.

Although relatives rushed her to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital, doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

A subsequent post-mortem examination confirmed that she died from multiple stab wounds.

Jackson left the scene immediately after the attack but was arrested by police the following day after he allegedly attempted to end his own life by hanging.

He was later charged with murder and remanded to prison after appearing before the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court.

Following the completion of preliminary inquiry proceedings, a magistrate ruled that the prosecution had established sufficient evidence to require him to answer the charge before a judge and jury at the Demerara Criminal Assizes.

Evidence presented during the case showed that Jackson and Keosoram had shared a long-term relationship that had deteriorated amid allegations of domestic violence.

Keosoram had separated from Jackson about three years before her death and moved into a home at Cane Grove with her children in an effort to rebuild her life.

Despite the separation, prosecutors said Jackson continued turning up at the property and had begun staying there again shortly before the killing without Keosoram’s approval.

The fatal confrontation occurred after Keosoram reportedly demanded that Jackson leave the house.

Investigators said the disagreement escalated into a violent attack, ending with Keosoram’s death.

Ranks, acting on information received, conducted an intelligence-led operation at a property in the area, where they observed a 47-year-old vendor of Castello Housing Scheme, throwing a bulky black plastic bag over a fence.

The bag was retrieved and searched in the presence of the suspect and a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found.

The suspect and the suspected cannabis were escorted to the East La Penitence Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to 30 grams before being lodged.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.

On November 23, 2023, Bryan MacIntosh was charged with two offences. The first offence was for using a computer system to attempt to excite hostility or ill will on the ground of race, in contravention of Section 18(1)(e) of the Cybercrime Act No. 16 of 2018, contrary to Section 18(2) of the said Act, committed against the Honourable Vice President, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭 𝐉𝐚𝐠𝐝𝐞𝐨.

The second offence was for using a computer system to attempt to excite ethnic divisions on the ground of race, in contravention of Section 18(1)(e) of the Cybercrime Act No. 16 of 2018, contrary to Section 18(2) of the said Act.

The charges originated from a Facebook Live video posted by Bryan MacIntosh during which he is seen and heard saying, among other things:

“Jagdeo is pay critic everyday fa call black people hungry belly and low lives, every day he get a cheque from Jagdeo, every day, he get a good job, come come and collect lil money, come and collect a bag ah money, call them hungry belly and low lives, call the black people hungry belly and low lives, cuss deh leader, cuss deh leader and demean the leader into nothing.”

Bryan MacIntosh further stated:

“Critic is being given friendships deals because he does do Jagdeo work, cuss black people every day, hungry belly and nasty belly low lives, cuss dem whole day as payment for critic cussing black people, Jagdeo does give critic a big contract.”

During its ruling, the Court indicated, among other things, in relation to the first offence, that:

“the hostility which the allegations might generate would arise from the alleged conduct attributed to Mr. Jagdeo and not because of his race…. the words relied on by the prosecution contains no exhortation, encouragement or appeal inviting Afro-Guyanese people to direct hostility towards Mr. Jagdeo because of his race.”

In relation to the second offence, the Court stated, among other things, that:

“the prosecution must adduced evidence that the accused attempted to promote or encouraged division between the ethnic communities of Guyana on the ground of the race.”

The Court further held that, based on the words led by the prosecution, it was unable to draw that inference, stating that:

“the words do not advocate separation between ethnic groups, they do not urge one ethnic community to oppose another, they do not promote racial superiority or inferiority, nor do they encourage discrimination between the ethnic groups in Guyana.”

Having carefully reviewed the Court’s ruling and the evidence adduced during the trial, the Guyana Police Force is of the considered view that 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰.

Sources told this publication that Udoh Kanu, a close associate of businessman Azruddin Mohamed, was detained by investigators. Kanu allegedly arranged the purchase of the Toyota Fielder wagon that was reportedly used in the botched execution which resulted in the fatal shooting of Fagundes instead of the alleged intended target, Roger Khan.

According to the source, Kanu reportedly accompanied the now-deceased Shawn Albert, also known as “Dexter” or “Rastaman,” and the late Shimroy Stewart to purchase the vehicle using money allegedly provided by Mohamed.

The source further claimed that while it remains unclear whether any of the men were the actual shooters, documents belonging to Stewart were used to register the vehicle. At the time, Stewart was employed by Arvina Parag, another business associate of Azruddin Mohamed.

Stewart has since died allegedly from diabetes.

Police investigations into the high-profile murder remain ongoing.

The accused, Orlanzo Webster of ‘B’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was charged under Section 49 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.

It is alleged that Webster assaulted the 40-year-old female Special Constable, who resides at the same address, on Saturday, October 8, 2025.

Webster appeared before Her Worship Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, July 14, 2026, where the charge was formally read to him.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence and was granted bail in the sum of $150,000.

The matter has been adjourned to September 14, 2026, for further proceedings.

The defendants, 19-year-old Terizita Parks of Bonfim, Brazil and Tabatinga, Lethem, Central Rupununi, and 26-year-old Camille James of Tabatinga, Lethem, Central Rupununi, were jointly charged with Unlawful Wounding and Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm.

The offences were laid contrary to Sections 30(b) and 30(a), respectively, of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:02.

The pair appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, where the charges were read to them separately. Both women pleaded guilty to the offences.

For the offence of Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm, each woman was fined $30,000, with an alternative of three months’ imprisonment if the fine is not paid.

They were also each sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for the offence of Unlawful Wounding.

The wanted bulletin was issued on Tuesday night, just hours after investigators released three men who had been detained and questioned as part of the reopened murder investigation.

The latest development marks another significant step in the high-profile probe into the killing of Fagundes, who was gunned down outside Palm Court on Main Street, Georgetown, on March 21, 2021, after reportedly stepping outside the establishment to answer a telephone call. The case remained unsolved for more than five years before investigators recently intensified their efforts and reopened the investigation.

Earlier on Tuesday, police released three men—including two former security guards attached to Mohamed’s Enterprise Security Service and a businessman—after they were questioned in relation to the murder. The men were granted bail pending the continuation of the investigation.

Police have not yet disclosed the specific evidence linking the wanted mechanic to the murder investigation, but are appealing to members of the public with information on his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or the Guyana Police Force.
