The deceased has been identified as Vitor Leca-De Alencar of Green Acres, East Bank Demerara.

According to police, the accident occurred at approximately 16:00 hrs on October 7, 2026, and involved motorcycle CL 5461, which was being ridden by the teenager.

Initial investigations revealed that the motorcycle was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of Eccles Access Road at a reportedly fast rate of speed when the rider lost control while negotiating a right bend.

The motorcycle subsequently collided with a lamp pole located on the median separating the two carriageways, causing Alencar to fall onto the roadway and sustain injuries to his head and other parts of his body.

Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned to the scene, where the teenager was examined and pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

His body was subsequently transported to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police investigations into the fatal accident are ongoing.
