Construction worker dies in Number 36 road accident
A 22-year-old construction worker lost his life following a motor vehicle accident along the Number 36 Public Road, Corentyne Berbice, on Sunday night.
Dead is Lakhram Etwaroo of Number 35 Village. Reports indicate that Etwaroo was travelling in a car which crashed into a parked vehicle at about 11:00 pm.
The owner of the parked vehicle, Derick Doodnauth of Lot A, Number 36 Village, told investigators that he heard a loud impact and upon checking, discovered that a car had collided with his wagon, which was parked on a bridge. He said Etwaroo was a passenger in the other vehicle, which also had a driver. Doodnauth added that his vehicle sustained damage.
Etwaroo’s cousin, Sarika Sansarran, said the young man had earlier attended a birthday party in Phillipi Village and was en route to Bengal Village to drop off a friend when the accident occurred. Etwaroo was rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to information received, the vehicle in which Etwaroo was travelling was allegedly racing another car when the driver lost control and crashed into the parked vehicle.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
