A 38-year-old construction worker from Corriverton, East Berbice, has been remanded to prison after being charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused, Alim Fareed, was arrested on September 22, 2025, at Huist Dieren, Essequibo Coast, after police allegedly found 584 grams of cannabis in his possession.

Fareed appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty.

Bail was denied, and the matter was adjourned to October 17, 2025.
