Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a partially decomposed male body along the Hope Seawalls on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD).
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), ranks responded to a 911 call around 6:45h on Sunday, where it was reported that a motionless body was seen at the shoreline.
Ranks were deployed to the location, and upon arrival, officers found the body of a man lying face down among the rocks at the seawall’s edge.
The deceased, who remains unidentified, was clad in black knee-length pants and a brown long-sleeved shirt. A visible tattoo was noted on his right hand.
However, the advanced state of decomposition hindered efforts to detect any visible marks of violence. Police said several individuals in the area were interviewed, but no useful information was gathered.
The body was photographed and transported to the Memorial Funeral Parlour Mortuary, where it is being held pending formal identification and a post-mortem examination.
