The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is investigating a robbery with aggravation committed on Zhao Pe Lizhan, a 60-year-old Chinese businessman of D’Urban Backlands, Georgetown, which occurred around 18:55 hours on Wednesday at WF Fast Food Restaurant in the same area.
According to the Police Force, Lizhan was robbed of $70,000 by four individuals – two identifiable males and two identifiable females, all of whom are suspected to be juveniles.
Investigations revealed that the businessman was seated behind the counter inside the restaurant when the group entered and approached him.
One male and one female suspect held onto Lizhan’s neck and hand, restraining him, while the other two went behind the counter and accessed the cash register.
They reportedly stole the day’s sales before fleeing west into the D’Urban Backlands area. Police have since processed the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage as the investigation continues.
