An elderly man was killed on the Essequibo Coast after the old wooden house he lived in collapsed, trapping him beneath the debris.
The deceased has been identified as Fazal Mohomid, a resident of Richmond Village, Region Two.
According to reports, Mohomid, a father of two, had been living alone for several years following the death of his wife. He resided in a small, weathered wooden structure.
Neighbours said the tragic incident occurred while Mohomid was raking under the house after tying his hammock. The structure suddenly gave way, pinning him underneath.
Family members and neighbours described Mohomid as a quiet and humble man who kept to himself and was well respected in the community.
Police are investigating the incident.
