A father is pleading for justice for his son, 21-year-old Jagdeo Bhimsingh, who was killed after a car swerved into his path along the Number 64 Public Road, Corentyne Berbice, on Monday afternoon.

Speaking to reporters, Jagdeo’s father, Motie Bhimsingh, revealed that his son came from New York in January and was staying at his Number 63 residence.

Motie stated that Jagdeo was supposed to return to the States later this month.

According to Motie, his son imported the motorcycle, which had a trade number plate. He said Jagdeo was heading to Corriverton to purchase gas for the motorcycle when a car made a sudden turn into his lane, causing a collision.

Motie said that Jagdeo was wearing a safety helmet and held a U.S. driver’s license. He added that he had all the necessary documents for his motorcycle.

“I really need justice for my son; I can’t let somebody kill him just like that,” the grieving father said.

Meanwhile, police in a statement said that around 13:00 hours Jagdeo, was riding motorcycle JH25C4002 7M003943 proceeding south along the eastern drive lane of the said public road, allegedly at a fast rate of speed and was reportedly unlicensed and without a safety helmet when motorcar PKK 5792 driven by a 60-year-old man of Number 64 Village proceeding along the western drive lane, reportedly turned east into the path of Jagdeo, resulting in a collision.

As a result of the collision, Jagdeo fell from his motorcycle onto the eastern grass parapet and sustained injuries to his body. He was picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and transported to the Number 75 Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.

A breathalyser test conducted on the driver of the motor car returned readings of 7 and 8 micrograms of alcohol, respectively. The driver of the motor car is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.
