
Four individuals are nursing injuries following a two-vehicle collision along the Canje Bridge in Region Six.
The accident occurred around 6:30 hrs on Wednesday and involved two motor cars. One of the vehicles, identified only by registration as PAC, was being driven by 18-year-old Jerome King of Lot 723 Fort Ordinance Housing Scheme, East Canje, Berbice.
The second vehicle, identified as motor car PWW, was driven by 48-year-old Ganesh Singh of Lot 617 Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice. Also in Singh’s vehicle were two passengers: 48-year-old Babita Ramcham of Number 73 Village, Corentyne, and 26-year-old Dhanwantie Somra of Number 72 Village, Corentyne.
After the collision, all occupants were extracted in a conscious state by Emergency Medical Technician personnel with assistance from public-spirited citizens. They were quickly transported to the nearby New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
Dhanwantie was treated for minor cuts and bruises and later discharged. Babita was treated and admitted for a fractured right leg. King sustained a fractured right leg and left shoulder, while Ganesh Singh suffered a fractured right hand. Both men were admitted to the hospital, and their conditions have been listed as stable.
