The 2020 Gecom fraud trial continues.
Former GECOM Information Technology Manager Aneal Giddings has maintained that the election server placed in his vehicle during the 2020 bomb scare at the Ashmin’s Building was never accessed or tampered with.
Giddings concluded his testimony on Monday, telling the court that the server was password-protected and that only he and two senior technical staff knew the password.
He said he locked the server inside his vehicle, kept the keys with him and went to the designated muster point following the evacuation.
Giddings said the server was removed from the building to protect GECOM’s information after the bomb threat interrupted tabulation.
The court also heard that GECOM’s technical team was responsible for logging, scanning and entering information from Statements of Poll, while a separate process was used to determine the election results.
Giddings also maintained that he secured SOPs following the disruption and later returned the server to the tabulation centre.
The trial continues before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in Georgetown.
