Guyana’s housing sector continues to expand at an unprecedented pace, with government officials pledging to make it the strongest in the Caribbean by 2030.

Speaking at the International Building Expo 2025, Minister of Housing and Water Collin Croal said the sector has been transformed under President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s leadership. He noted that more than $250 billion has been invested in the past five years, resulting in over 20,000 new lands developed, 3,000 turnkey homes built, and more than 50,000 house lots distributed.

To date, 20,000 land titles have been processed, with 13,000 already handed out, while over 500 kilometres of roads have been paved in new schemes. The ministry has also provided steel and cement subsidies to 2,500 Guyanese.

Over the weekend, more than 700 families from Regions Three and Four received titles during a distribution exercise at the National Stadium, Providence. Additionally, 300 allottees of La Bonne Intention (LBI) Block Three signed agreements of sale.

Minister Croal said the goal is to eliminate the housing backlog by 2030 while ensuring every new community has proper infrastructure such as roads, lighting, schools, and health centres. He urged citizens to “keep building and moving forward” as Guyana rises on the back of its housing boom.
