Guyana is heading toward its best tourism year on record, with visitor arrivals already surpassing last year’s total before the end of October. President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced the major milestone on Friday evening as he declared open the annual Christmas Village along Main Street.

Latest figures for January to October 2025 show a strong 24 percent rise in arrivals when compared to the same period in 2024. October alone recorded an outstanding 28.9 percent year-on-year jump, with some 42,306 visitors entering the country that month.

The President said that if current trends continue, Guyana is expected to close 2025 with at least a 20 percent overall increase in visitor arrivals, the highest in the country’s history. He noted that this performance confirms what citizens have been seeing on the ground; Guyana’s growing presence on the world stage and rising popularity as a destination.

Dr. Ali welcomed the many foreign guests attending the event and credited the Christmas Village as one of the activities that help showcase Guyana’s culture and festive spirit. He said the space has become an important part of how the country celebrates the holiday season, bringing families together while highlighting what makes this time of year magical for Guyanese.
